Democratic Convention Commentary Part 4 - Hillary Barely Endorses Obama, Barely Attacks McCain

Watch her yourself,

While I really don't care for her policy-wise and certainly distrust her after the way her and Bill behaved for eight years, I'll give credit where credit is due, she looks much more Presidential in this speech than anything I have seen out of BO. She certainly hit a home run performance-wise. But let me make these observations:

1) The LAST thing she was proud of was being a supporter of Barack Obama

2) She never said she was a proud 1st Lady or wife (Bill had to feel ticklish over that I bet!) it took her 18 minutes to acknowledge Bill!

3) It took her 19 minutes to acknowledge Michelle Obama (no love lost here!)

4) It took her 6 minutes to bash McCain (No McCain) 6:45

5) I, me, mine, we - her language was very ME-focused

6) Barack Barely Mentioned Until End of speech

* "...proud supporter of Barack Obama" 4:15
* "Barack Obama is my candidate" 6:00

8+ minute gap touting me, me, me

* "...and those are the reasons I support Barack Obama for President." 14:54
* "...we need to elect Barack Obama..." 16:38
* "Barack Obama began his carreer..." 17:22
* "...and when Barack Obama is in the Whitehouse 17:44
* "...President Obama..." 18:18
* "I cannot wait to watch Barack Obama..." 18:49
* "...that President Obama will end the war in Iraq ..." 19:10
* "...and Barack will have with him a terrific partner in Michelle Obama..." 19:20
* "...Joe Biden will be at Barack Obama's side..." 19:45

7) 20+ minutes go by before she attacks McCain again after paying him compliments and her comment comparing McCain to Bush was funny, not really a big knife twister like earlier comments made by Dennis Kucinich, Claire McCaskill or Barbara Mikulski.

8) A great irony of her speech was her linking her party with equal rights for Blacks / African Americans and Women because it was the Republican Party that freed the slaves and gave both Blacks and Women the right to vote!

9) Michelle Obama looked genuinely moved twice but looked wooden or even annoyed at other parts of Hillary's speech.

10) Hillary said essentially if you agreed with her about women's issues, healthcare, etc - vote for Barack Obama. She never said why she liked him or his family and she never said why he would make a good commander in chief or leader of the free world. She paid more compliments to John McCain (called him her friend) and Joe Biden then she did to Barack Obama. Basically she said to the DNC convention goers, "Barack echoes my views so vote for him".

And of course, Bill - in a verbal smackdown said this:

Need I say more?

Democratic Convention Commentary Part 2 - Will The Real Michelle Obama Please Stand Up?

Which one is the real Michelle?

This one?

Or this one?

Michelle Obama Democratic National Convention 08-25-2008
(Realplayer will launch)

Do we believe the pretty lady in a blue dress and just mentally toss aside her and her husband's longstanding and close relationship to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a man who was closely allied with the 'Reverend' Louis Farrakhan? I won't link to or post video of Wright or Farrakhan here for the same reason I won't post video of David Duke here - they are all hatemongers. That and I don't want to unintentionally break the 2nd commandment by having Wright's blasphemy repeated over and over with every click of a mouse button.

Even if we are to beleive Michelle Obama is really the pretty lady in the blue dress - in her world 'community activists' are heros and business people are zeros:

Factory Worker = Good, Corporate Lawyer = Bad.

While Obama & Michelle's helping less fortunate people is laudable and worthy social behavior, disparaging the 'haves' to help the 'have-nots' is just basic Marxist class warfare and goes contrary to B.O.'s stated unity ideals. Either you embrace everyone or you turn to class warfare. You can't have it both ways.

But Barack and his wife are really liberals, not centrists who will unify Americans:
  • 70-90% Americans favor a ban on Partial Birth Abortion but Barack Obama opposes one. Not only that but in February 2004, his wife, Michelle, sent out a fundraising letter, which actually stated her concern over the rise of conservatism in the Country, and that the ‘so-called’ partial-birth abortion was a legitimate medical procedure that should be protected.
  • He voted against filtering pornography on school and library computers and he voted for sex education for kindergarten children through the 5th grade.
  • Also, in 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 1,000 feet of schools and churches.
  • In 1999 he was the only Illinois State Senator to vote against a bill barring early release for (criminal) sex offenders.
  • He sponsored S.CON.RES.53: A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that any effort to impose photo identification requirements for voting should be rejected. (source: Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Defends Partial-birth Abortion Junior U.S. Senator from Illinois By Donna Hope, published Oct 24, 2006)
  • End-of-life self-medication ok; euthanasia by others not ok. (Apr 2008)
  • Ok to expose 6-year-olds to gay couples; they know already. (Sep 2007)
  • Voted YES on disallowing an oil leasing program in Alaska's ANWR. (Nov 2005)
  • Voted YES on banning drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. (Mar 2005)
  • Designate sensitive ANWR area as protected wilderness. (Nov 2007)
  • Willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Kim Jung Il & Hugo Chavez. (Nov 2007)
  • Voted YES on continuing federal funds for declared "sanctuary cities". (Mar 2008)
  • Chief co-sponsor of IL ENDA, against gay job discrimination. (Aug 2007) (Source)
Do you think Obama ever came home and Michelle said to him, "Gee honey, that sure was a really liberal vote you cast today, was that wise?" I'd be willing to bet Bill and Hillary have had discussions like that but only because they are so Machiavellian about every step they take. I think Obama and Michelle fall closer to the 'true believer' category if the Moveon.org money he has raised is any clue.

Moveon.org is run by George Soros and Soros uses loopholes in the law to spend huge amounts of money backing liberal politicians. If Barack Obama becomes President, he has a plan to use our taxpayer dollars to fund Soros' organizations and similar 'do-gooder' groups which are really front organizations for left wing causes posing as public interest groups.

Barack Obama - Faith Based Fallout

Greetings,

Recently both Senator Obama and Senator McCain appeared at Pastor Rick Warren's Saddleback Church and spoke separately in a candidate forum. One thing that was brought up was faith based initiatives. Senator Obama's answer is long and muddy but listen carefully about how addresses discrimination:

Maybe it's me but again I found his answer offensive and telling. Replay it a few times to digest it if you must and then see if you agree with me.

1) Don't worry, I won't have the Federal government try to pick your Pastor.

WHOA! Is did he think or contemplate this that he even brings it up?

2) Programs that are Federally funded will not be able to discriminate.

So if my church receives money for a soup kitchen and it is federally supported, my Church may be forced to hire someone who is a homosexual or may belong to a controversial faith like Wicca when those things are forbidden by my Church (and the Word of God for that matter!)?

Senator Obama did speak the truth on one matter, "The Devil is in the details".

Now this brings up another concern of mine, Barack Obama supported the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) which passed the House but was not taken up by the Senate in 2007, probably because it did not have enough votes and President Bush threatened to veto it. What was bad about ENDA? It was esentially a Gay-Rights bill that did the following:
  • Turn groups like the Boy Scouts into targets of federally funded lawsuits. While he was Vice President, Al Gore said on Good Morning America, in answer to a question about the Boy Scouts, that he hoped ENDA would do away with all “discrimination” by public and private groups.
  • Constitute a major expansion of federal power over the workplace and create a new way for the government to manipulate employers. ENDA’s intent is to create grounds for lawsuits. By injecting sexuality into civil rights law, ENDA opens a Pandora’s box of ways for the government to dictate to businesses.
  • Make people’s sexual temptations a source of material for federal lawsuits. The law properly deals with actions, not beliefs. ENDA creates a new class based on the fuzzy grounds of perception and intention. This is far removed from laws designed to end racial discrimination, because not only is race evident but also it has no moral aspect. Sexual behavior is fraught with moral consequences.
So lets play 'make believe' for a minute, lets say you are a member of a Catholic or Lutheran Church that has a Scouting troop and a ministry to the poor - not unimaginable at all. Let's say Barack Obama gets elected president. Lets go one step further and say he has a Democratic majority in Congress and gets what he wants at both the Executive and Legislative level. He makes sweeping changes to both the office of Faith Based Initiatives and Congress passes ENDA.

Oh sure, the government can't pick your pastor (yet) but the Federal government can have a hand in telling you who you must hire for your soup kitchen and who you must admit into your Scouting group, even if it is a denominationally based unit.

Rep. Timothy Walberg (R-MI) pointed out that ENDA “… would cause significant problems to religious bookstores … to the Boy Scouts, religious day care centers, and religious summer camps that have clearly defined missions.” (source)

And this is just the beginning of sorrows if Barack Obama gets elected:

ACLU Members For Obama

Barack Obama on Civil Liberties

Scouting has been a litigation target of the ACLU for it's exclusion of homosexuals and atheists:

LEADERSHIP

The ACLU vs. the Boy Scouts

And these lawsuits have happened at government (taxpayer) expense:

Stop Paying For The Secularization of America

ACLU ruins Boy Scout camp

Has Barack Obama (or his supporters) thought through what this would mean in the real world where the rubber hits the road?

RankIndustryTotal
1Lawyers/Law Firms$20,722,629
(Source - Opensecrets.org)

Yep, over $20 Million from lawyers

Also:

Moveon.org $347,463

So if you want to
sue Churches and sue the Boy Scouts, vote for Barack Obama.

Mixed Feelings About Today

Greetings,

Today will be a historic day as America has it's 1st African-American (or 'Black' if you prefer) President sworn in. As someone who admires the Abolitionists and the role they played in the Republican party, as someone who is the descendant of a Union soldier and who has a relative who was involved in the civil rights movement in the 1960's, I feel that today is a watermark in our nation's history. That said I have mixed feelings. As a Republican activist (I am the county chairman in my area) I supported John McCain and the GOP by working 30 to 40 hours a week in our headquarters and did much door-knocking and literature dropping for the party, spending time away from my family and my business to get John McCain and Republicans up and down the ticket elected. I was then and am now very suspicious of Barack Obama's associates. 1st Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers, now the 'politicos' Blagojevich & Burris.

As one could predict, Michelle Malkin is positively verklempt over Barack Obama becoming the 1st Black President. I offered her these words of comfort,

"My President Is Black? Well, sort of. What we have here is a classic example of the "Free Rider" problem - the free rider problem exists when people enjoy the benefits of government provided goods independent of whether they pay for them. Barack Obama is neither a Republican (the party that freed African slaves and had the 1964 Civil Rights law built into it's platform since the 1860s) nor is he a descendant of African slaves. Thus he is not part of the political party which gave 'blacks' freedom & equality nor is he related to anyone who suffered under it. Barack Obama is a 'Free Rider' reaping all the benefits and having paid none of the cost."

An interesting irony indeed is it not? History is full of them.

For now, his supporters and others momentarily taken with our new President (including some conservatives with their brains caught in the headlights) will swoon and be charmed but it won't last forever. Right after the media elected Bill Clinton it tore him (and Hillary) down. Obama has some really big challenges like gracefully bringing our troops home from the Middle East without emboldening terrorists and doing as little harm as possible to the economy. Quite frankly, even a milquetoast Republican would have better solutions because he would have the correct ideology to fix our current problems and would tread very, very carefully. Barack Obama will have to completely chuck liberal ideology in order to fix our current problems and his voting record suggests otherwise.

What we need now is more Adam Smith and less John Maynard Keynes. We need to make deeper tax cuts, drill more here in the USA, maintain a muscular foreign policy, maintain and build a strong intelligence community, keep our military strong, and have social policies which favor the traditional family.

One idea whose time has most certainly arrived is the end of all race based preferencial policies. If Barack Obama can win in Iowa and across the nation (my home state of Wisconsin included) then it is time for the politics of race to be dismantled. My generation was raised to be tolerant and inclusive and my children even more so. The 1964 Civil Rights bill should stand but all preferential policies should be repealed. The Republican Party has always favored equality of opportunity, just not a forced equality of of outcome. For example:

14. That the Republican party is opposed to any change in our naturalization laws or any state legislation by which the rights of citizens hitherto accorded to immigrants from foreign lands shall be abridged or impaired; and in favor of giving a full and efficient protection to the rights of all classes of citizens, whether native or naturalized, both at home and abroad. - 1860 Republican Party Platform

7. Resolved, That the Government owes to all men employed in its armies, without regard to distinction of color, the full protection of the laws of war—and that any violation of these laws, or of the usages of civilized nations in time of war, by the Rebels now in arms, should be made the subject of prompt and full redress. - 1864 Republican Party Platform

Second—The guaranty by Congress of equal suffrage to all loyal men at the South was demanded by every consideration of public safety, of gratitude, and of justice, and must be maintained; while the question of suffrage in all the loyal States properly belongs to the people of those States. - 1868 Republican Party Platform

Third. Complete liberty and exact equality in the enjoyment of all civil, political, and public rights should be established and effectually maintained throughout the Union, by efficient and appropriate State and Federal legislation. Neither the law nor its administration should admit any discrimination in respect of citizens by reason of race, creed, color, or previous condition of servitude. - 1872 Republican Party Platform

Here you can see the Republican Party from it's inception has always favored the policies which eventually came to their natural culmination in the 1964 Civil Rights Act . . .but somehow the Democratic Party took the credit because Kennedy was assasinated and LBJ passed it as JFK's legacy even though he needed a substantial number of Republican votes to pass it because most southern democrats would not.

It is noteworthy that a much more qualified candidate lost to one with far more charisma. In laymens terms, the majority of the country was far more comfotable having a beer with Obama than McCain. This means the old barrier of 'race' while no longer a barrier. There may be lingering sentiments of racism, but it is with a minority of Americans because many Americans (myself included) voted for McCain not because of race but because of political ideology and therefore the number of people in this country who voted against Obama due to race is now the minority - and that is how it should be because racists are brain dead and the idea of race-based inequality is both un-American and un-Christian.

My other misgivings about Barack Obama were aired following the election and so I won't repeat those here. But lastly I will say that we seem to be heading back to big government - i.e. - Socialism and that too is both un-American and un-Christian. Some will say those are loaded things to say but America is a capitalist country because capitalism is consistent with individual freedom and personal responsibility. When we give up those political virtues, we cease to be American. As for being un-Christian, socialism is premised on faith in the state rather than the providence of a caring God who created us and watches over us. To trust in the state is to trust in man and that is why you can never have 'socialism with a friendly face'. Socialism always will lead to totalitarianism.

So while Barack Obama may be a historic figure as our 1st President of African descent, he may be clinging to policies which are frankly, inimicable to Americanism and belong on the ash-heap of history.

Jim

A Hollywood Liberal Who Is TIRED Of Obama!

Greetings,

In case you haven't heard, Bill Maher is getting tired of Obama-mania.

Now you have to wade through his swipes at Bush, Cheney, McCain & Limbaugh which are unpleasent but he (who voted for Obama) is getting sick and tired of Obama's celebrity image - in short Maher - who is a comedian wants Obama to act like a serious leader and even gives a few backhanded compliments to Bush's clear leadership skills,

"And we need to marry the good ideas Obama really believes in with that Bush attitude and Bush certitude. I'd love for Obama to come out one day and say, "Jesus told me to fix healthcare." Or, "History will decide whether stopping the polar ice caps from melting and drowning us all was a good thing."

In conclusion, Bush was a jerk, but he never cared about being seen having a burger with Dick Cheney. He picked up the phone in the White House and said, "I'm the president, bring me a burger." And they'd say, "Sir, this is NORAD. Would you please stop ordering burgers with the red phone?"

Maher may be a anticlerical, obnoxious Hollywood bigot but he has 'moments of clarity' from time to time and this is one of those rare moments where the fog lifts and a few rays of common sense break through.

Be sure to read it.

John McCain In Sturgis

"I'm told Barack Obama is proud of going to Berlin to hear the cheeers of 100,000 Germans. Well, I'd rather come to Sturgis and hear the noise of 50,000 Harleys!" John McCain, Sturgis August 5,2008

Greetings,

Speaking as a guy who worked with lots of guys who went to Sturgis each year for the bike rally, I was intrigued to see how it went for Senator McCain, here is the video from his daughter Meghan's blog, McCainBlogette:

Here is the CNN coverage:

The "Miss Buffalo Chip Pageant" remark was of course trashed by liberals and yes, I rather doubt Cindy would do it but it does underline 3 things:

1) McCain is not your grampa's stuffy old Republican, he has a sense of humor and is not afraid to be both laughed with and laughed at. Obama takes himself so damn seriously.

McCain
Senator John McCain was a host of
“Saturday Night Live” in 2002.
(Photo: Dana Edelson/NBC)

2) If John wins, he will arguably bring the prettiest 1st Lady to the Whitehouse since Jackie Kennedy.

http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/photo/2008/05/16/PH2008051603356.jpg

3) Bikers, especially Viet Nam veterans will be voting this fall, they are Americans too.

http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2006/10/17/0000451897/DSC02184B.jpg

The liberals are trying to make hay over what John McCain said at Sturgis and I say let them, it just makes them look that much more uptight, snobby and elitist.

I once helped a Republican candidate run for office in Minnesota who made sure we hit trailer parks. Some people wondered why. He had found out that the Democrat did not do trailers or rental properties because in the Democrat's own words, "THOSE PEOPLE don't vote." My candidate reminded me that besides the tactical advantage in doing this, "Those folks are taxpayers too you know, big government will hurt them more than it will you and me."

The fact that John McCain did show up and Barack Obama did not speaks volumes. The fact that limousine liberal commentators like Keith Olbermann tore into this appearance also speaks volumes. A lot of liberals want to give us the impression that is THEY who care for everyone so much but would Barack Obama go to Sturgis and HUG a bunch of burly, tattooed bikers like John McCain did?

Back in the '60s liberals cared for people, their policies were wrong-headed but they did care. Many worked in America's inner cities and others went abroad in the Peace Corps. Today's liberals rest on the laurels of past battles and would like to keep many of the people they used to care so much for at arms length.

Some of the better press coverage:

Dave Obey, The Obama Czars, California & Other Communists

Greetings gentle readers,

This one gets a little complicated but bear with me, there is a tasty treat inside this story. You may recall in the past I demonstrated that Dave Obey and Nancy Pelosi were joined at the hip in fundraising. Well I dug deeper and found Farallon Capital Management was a significant contributor to Clinton aide / Illinois House member / Obama advisor Rahm Emanuel.

Photobucket
Keep in mind these numbers are to the best of my ability to datamine the web, they could be even higher. What or who is Farallon Capital Management you may be asking? It's led by Thomas (Tom) Steyer, one of these twisted guys who embraces both liberalism and capitalism. Probably because Steyer is a protege of a Clinton crony, Robert Rubin (of Goldman Sachs fame).

Photobucket

Now as you know, Dave Obey is the member of Congress who put his name on the so-called $787 Billion stimulus (also called simuless, porkulus, etc) bill, heck - even Governor Jim Doyle says so! Well . . . not long ago a group called the Apollo Alliance took credit for it:

Here (original link)

and here (Google cached)

Now who might you ask is a prominent member of the Apollo Alliance?

http://www.hyscience.com/van_jones.gif

Yup - self-avowed Black Nationalist & Communist Van Jones, now Barack Obama's 'Green Jobs Czar'. Like hey, he's both a Czar and a Communist - how cool is that? This guy obviously did not go through any standard White House FBI background checks or Congressional 'advice and consent', besides the above he is also a '9/11 truther'. But let's not dwell on that, what is even more shocking is this guys ties to power at the highest levels of our government.

Guess what member of Congress has been going to the Aspen Institute for years?

Photobucket

So is it safe to assume that Dave Obey was present at the Aspen Istitute event where Van Jones received his 'Individual Thought Leadership' award? Did Congressman Obey take part in voting for Van Jones to receive that award? If so, on what basis?

Furthermore, Dave Obey is THE AUTHOR of the $787 Billion 'stimulus' bill which Van Jones' group the Apollo Alliance claimed it wrote. The Apollo Alliance and the Aspen Institute are organizations working together for common purpose - to create Green Jobs. Furthermore, the Apollo Alliance has been working with Barack Obama since at least 2005 while he was still only a freshman Senator to bail out the auto industry:

While Apollo focuses on maintaining consensus, the Breakthrough Institute aims to compete on the terrain of concrete and controversial legislative proposals. To wit, it has been collaborating with the office of Senator Barack Obama on a bill it hopes he will propose later this year known as the Automotive Competitiveness and Accountability Act. It would relieve the pressure on U.S. automakers to bankroll the rising costs of legacy health insurance -- an expense that doesn't burden their foreign competitors -- and, in exchange, obligate them to invest heavily in energy-efficiency technologies and comply with substantially more aggressive fuel-economy standards. It represents a new way of thinking about environmental policies, says Hendricks, “offering a bailout to the [auto industry] from these hugely debilitating health costs they're grappling with but linking it to an accountability for achieving public purposes.”
From Shooting the Moon

Now who started all these bailouts in the 1st place? You may say Bush did and that would be somewhat true but who's advice did he follow to bail out the banks and the auto industry?

Oh yeah, Hank Paulson!

http://www.referenceforbusiness.com/biography/images/idbb_03_img0217.jpg

. . . who worked at . . . drumroll please . . .

Goldman Sachs! The Wall Street company that Robert Rubin worked at, whose protege is Tom Steyer who runs Farallon Capital which gives money to Barack Obama (who wanted to bailout the automakers in 2005), Nancy Pelosi, Rahm Emanuel & Dave Obey who wrote the $787 Billion stimulus bill that was really written by the Apollo Alliance which until recently employed Van Jones who received an award from the Aspen Institute which is Dave Obey's favorite travel sponsor. Whew!

Yeah, Van Jones

Dave Obey,

With friends like these . . .

Democratic Convention Commentary Part 5 - Elvis Has Left The Building

Greetings,

Where do I begin?

First there was the welcome:

Whoops, had a hard time telling them apart

Yes we put the young Elvis on a stamp

The image “http://www.sites.si.edu/images/exhibits/Art%20of%20the%20Stamp/images/Elvis_jpg.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

...and the 'old Elvis in the White House.

http://images.politico.com/global/clinton%20on%20arsenio.jpg

CLINTON THE LIAR
The convention speech was a reminder of that. Former President Clinton brought down the house, he was truly in rare form - BUT - I suspect within a few days a detailed report will come out with a list of the lies and inaccuracies he said in his speech. That will make for a future posting. For now a basic critique.

CLINTON THE FLAWLESS SPEECHMAKER
For one thing, after taking 3 minutes to quiet down the crowd, he did do what Hillary did not, he made the case for supporting Barack Obama and he did it from the 1st sentence of his speech. Bill was kinder to Hillary than Hillary was to Bill too. I suspect Bill in usual Clintonian rapid-response, on-message style had read at least a summary of media critiques of Hillary's speech and made the necessary adjustments in his own address. I also imagine he could have done it off the top of his head as Bill has that gift for thinking on his feet and being disciplined when he wants to be.

CLINTON CHARMS EVEN MICHELLE
What was interesting was watching Michelle Obama (I honestly think she has no idea she is on camera) because at the beginning of Bill's speech she had a sort of tepid 'yeah, sure, right' look on her face. Polite clapping, no visible enthusiasm like smiling Hillary and tearful Chelsea. Michelle looked downright angry at 8 minutes into his speech. After 8:50 min Bill says, "...Barack Obama is the man for this job!" Michelle finally cracks a smile and stands up and gives a more enthusiastic clap. From there on in, he goes on for about 2 minutes complimenting Barack's personality, judgement, family, ideology and Veep pick and at 10 minutes you can see Michelle looking serious but now as if she is listening closely to him. At about 10:15 you can see her standing and smiling a bit again and nodding with someone in agreement. At nearly 11 minutes he tells the crowd Barack Obama is ready to lead and Michelle is standing, clapping and looking a little more enthusiastic, Hillary of course is beaming and waving a flag (where is Michelle's flag? hmmm...) at that same moment. Michelle sits through several applause lines and then is off camera for several other for about 5 minutes. At 16:10, Michelle is responding appropriately to Bill's hurtin' people pablum. At 16:53 Michelle is enthusiastically clapping and smiling, really smiling - she is with the program at this point. At 20:30 you can see her teeth for once, really smiling and going with Bill's assault on Bush and the GOP.

CLINTON STEALS FROM REAGAN
At About 15 min into his speech, Bill gets into the 'are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?' technique Reagan employed and uses it masterfully but I suspect not all the information was accurate. One thing is certainly overlooked and that is the one Democrats never acknowledge - in times of war, both parties traditionally agree deficit spending is OK. This was traditional US policy for both parties until the Bush years. After the glow of post-9/11 national unity faded, Democrats jettisoned that policy and declared open season on military and national security spending.

THE BIG LIE - WAR WHAT WAR?
From about 18:30 onto 20.30 Clinton goes on the attack against Republicans saying America never really had a chance to evaluate their 'extreme' policies until 2001 because it was then that the GOP controlled both the White House and Congress. Well, yes and no. Numerically and ideologically the GOP had a strong control over the House but had a slender margin of 1 seat in the Senate and that seat was held by Jim Jeffords, a liberal RINO Republican who functioned as a Democrat and he up and quit the GOP and became an independent who caucused with the Democrats giving them a functional majority. Senators like Lincoln Chaffee, Arlen Specter and Olympia Snowe were all liberal Republicans who frequently did not vote for Bush policies. When 9/11 happened in 2001, it not only killed thousands of Americans, it killed our economy, cost many people their jobs, drove up fuel prices and pushed us into a recession. Clinton made it sound as if all that has befallen America has occurred because of Bush's/Republican ideology put into practice. Quite the contrary. A lot of Republican lawmakers were uncomfortable with growing the size, scope and power of the Federal government but felt it was a necessary trade-off in order to keep America safe. Democrats conveniently ignore this fact over and over again.

BILL PASSES THE 'PLACE CALLED HOPE' MANTLE
At the conclusion of the speech, Bill talks about how Obamessiah is the "21st century incarnation" of the American dream. There is some truth to that in the sense that Barack Obama is the inheritor of the benefits of the freedoms guaranteed to us all in the Bill of Rights,
Constitution and Declaration of Independence and their hard fought for realization made possible through the Civil War and Civil Rights movement. Ironically, Barack Obama is not a descendant of African born slaves and he is a Democrat and the Democrats were the Party of Slavery and then Segregation up to 1964. The fact he is a Chicago Democrat only makes the irony that much stronger.

Above His Paygrade - Heartless Eloquence

Pretty flip answer don't you think?

Toss him a softball or put him in a venue where he can 'preach to the choir' - pardon the pun, he is Mr. Eloquence. Give him a hard question in front of an impartial audience and it is ah . . . ah . . . ah . . . buh . . . buh . . . but.

When Barack Obama was asked when a baby had human rights, it took him a full 27 seconds to BEGIN to mentally get it together and start to formulate a clever non-response. He never did answer the question.

Toward the end he very indirectly acknowledged that he did not believe life began at conception.

If the Rev. Wright controversy was not enough, this should show most Evangelicals and Catholics that Barack Obama is not one of them. The Bible addresses persons like Senator Obama:

2 Timothy 3:1 You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time. 2 People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, 3 and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. 4 They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people. 6 Some of these men go into homes and mislead weak-minded women who are burdened with sins and led by all kinds of desires. 7 These women are always studying but are never able to recognize the truth. 8 As Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. Their minds are corrupt, and the faith they teach is counterfeit. - Emphasis mine

When Christians gained power in Rome, the 1st things they did were 1) Stop the slaughter of the coliseum and 2) Stop the practice of infanticide.

Barack Obama wants to turn back the clock, he advocates going back to the slack standards of pagan Rome. Maybe if we had to toss our babies off cliffs or leave them out to the exposure of the elements rather than hide the practice of abortion under the cloak of medicine and law it would not be so acceptable.

Or we may be headed into those last days Jesus spoke of:

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets will rise, and will deceive many. 12 And because iniquity will abound, the love of many will become cold.

What could be colder or crueler than late term abortion? It is a sign of how far we have fallen (and when I say 'we' I mean not just American society but especially the Christian Church) that such a thing can even be discussed so dispassionately in a Church filled with so-called Christian believers.

Barack Obama may have a form of Godliness (humanistic religiosity) and a human charisma when he speaks but he has no heart.

Obama - Investigator in Chief

Well, you gotta give Obama credit for being an equal opportunity snoop, he is going to give any White House job applicant the same treatment he gave Joe 'the Plumber' Wurzelbacher. I wonder if the ACLU will repeal their support for Obama? Nah. Why is it that whenever I hear about Obama or his followers digging into other people's business I am reminded of the cold war?

http://kadmusarts.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/10/Stasi.jpg http://www.briefmarkenverein-berliner-baer.de/fotos-vereinszeitung/241/241-1-dampf.jpg
Oh yeah, that is why. I keep thinking of the STASI and people who read the mail, tapped the phones, etc. I wonder whether the Democrats will now repeal the PATRIOT Act or abuse it for political gain? I seem to recall Bill Clinton used the FBI and IRS as a tool of political intimidation, will Obama be above doing things like that? If I were Joe, I'd change my name changed , get a hair transplant and move.

Bounce, What Bounce?

The image “http://www.johnmccain.com/Images/HP3/ticket_main.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

I was going to blog about the Obama acceptance speech but something more exciting happened with today's new cycle. John McCain may have just totally upped the ante in this year's election. I must say I am getting really good at predicting these things. I have this friend who always confidently tells me who will be THE candidate for this or that and he hasn't been right yet.

Back during the primary season he confidently told me Rudy Giuliani would be the nominee. Wrong. I told him I liked Huckabee but thought McCain would get it. Not long ago he told me Obama would pick Sam Nunn as VP. I could not help but think, "He has got to be kidding me!" Sam Nunn is way to the right of Obama. Now to be fair, my friend never told me who would be McCain's running mate but on the same day he made his nunnsensical prediction, I was talking to someone else and when I was asked I said, "If not Gov. Pawlenty, I think Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska. I only found out today while googling her that there was an effort to get her on the ticket. But it certainly makes sense in light of Obama's lackluster pick of Joe Biden and not Hillary Clinton.

Still a couple months to go and maybe I'm getting overly optimistic - but I think we just won.

Obama - The 'Youth' President - Not So Fast

Greetings,

Everybody says Obama appeals to young people - maybe some but not all. When I picked my kids up yesterday from school - the younger kids had to watch the inauguration but older kids were given a choice. My oldest (14, 8th Grade) who HATES Math chose to do her math rather than watch Barack Obama get sworn in. I would not have minded it if she had watched, I personally watched it til noon (as an observer, not a celebrator) but I am happy that with only 1 avenue of protest given to her she exercised her right to abstain from watching - made me proud!

Locally John McCain lost by about 2,000 votes here but while we had about a 1/2 a dozen teenagers going door-to-door for the party here, I never saw any young people going door-to-door for the local Dems.

If the economy tanks and Obama raises taxes and spending, his 'Coolness' may bring a much more lukewarm response 4 years from now from children and parents alike.

NEWSFLASH! Bill Ayers May Be Obama Book Author

Greetings all,

1st I read it here, on a blog that normally covers Lutheran Theology. Then I read more here. Amazing confession. Is it true? According to these blogs:

"There I was, sitting in Reagan National Monday morning, sipping a Starbucks by the United counter before going through security. I had a little time, so I was browsing through the news. Some military guys had borrowed a chair from my table. I looked up from time to time to enjoy the sun streaming through. That's when I saw Bill Ayers, an instant blight. Scruffy, thinning beard, dippy earring, and the wirerims, heading to order. I gathered my things, got my camera ready, and snapped a shot right when he got his coffee.

I asked--what are you doing in D.C. Mr. Ayers?

For a moment I thought he might be on my flight back to Chicago. Charming. Initially I guess he thought I was laying claim to his coffee or something. He gave me an uneasy cheesy smile when he realized I was taking his picture. I asked him if he was speaking at GW? (Only I said GFW, guess I had the VFW on my mind) He said oh you mean GW, he said no...was trying to decide if I was a fan, then said he was giving a lecture in Arlington to a Renaissance group on education--that's what I do, education--you shouldn't believe everything you hear about me, you know nothing about me. I said, I know plenty--I'm from Chicago, a conservative blogger, and I'll post this. (Oh, yeah, Bill Ayers, quite the Renaissance man, nail-bomber extraordinaire. Gee, I see another friend of Barack, U.S. Sec. of Education Arne Duncan was there too. "The conference theme is “A Time for Reflection, Celebration and Rebirth.” How touching. At best, useless, at worst, so wrong.)

Then, unprompted he said--I wrote Dreams From My Father. I said, oh, so you admit it. He said--Michelle asked me to. I looked at him. He seemed eager. He's about my height, short. He went on to say--and if you can prove it, we can split the royalties. So I said, stop pulling my leg. Horrible thought. But he came again--I really wrote it, the wording was similar. I said I believe you probably heavily edited it. He said--I wrote it. I said--why would I believe you, you're a liar.

He had no answer to that. Just looked at me. Then he turned and walked off, and said again his bit about my proving it and splitting the proceeds.

But the question remains--is Barack Obama a fraud? Is his myth-making creation and only major accomplishment a product of Bill Ayers' imagination? (or his own) Is our President Barack Obama's biography written by an unrepentant domestic terrorist?"

Scariest thing I have read about Obama yet. Super-scary.

Read it all here

and here.

We Will Never Forget

Greetings,

As someone who lives in Merrill, Wisconsin - this was the most unbelievable moment. You see, the Jopeks - I am sure, are still mourning the loss of Ryan. Their house is on the 'main drag' in Merrill and is a place where you can pick up a Barack Obama campaign sign here in town. Merrill is a small town of about 10,000 people where everybody knows everybody and I am sure many families here in town feel very sorry for them and were surprised when Barack Obama signs appeared in their lawn. At the same time, no one could blame them after losing their son in the war for feeling how they feel. I don't know the family well myself but there have always been patriotic, pro-military signs in their lawn as long as I can remember.

When their son died, the whole town came to the funeral. Cars and motorcycles lined the roads all the way up to the cemetary for as far as the eye could see. The whole town wept and mourned for Ryan and the Jopek family. I'm getting a little teary just writing about this now.

Tonight like many election-minded Americans I was watching the Presidential debate on TV and Senator John McCain was relating a story about the mother of Matthew Stanley and how she gave him her son's bracelet. Barack Obama chimed in clumsily saying, "I've got a bracelet too." It was one of those 'me too' moments and then Barack Obama stuttered and stammered and finally looked down to see the name - the name he couldn't remember. It was Ryan Jopek. I hit the rewind button on my DVR over and over again to watch the moment. Each time I saw it I got a queasy, gnawing feeling in the pit of my stomach.

I have four young children and the thought raced through my mind of how it would feel to be actively supporting a candidate and to have given him a personal possession of my deceased child and then see that politician not remember his name on national TV. For their sake, I hope none of the Jopek family was watching.

Thoughts and prayers,

Jim

Obama Ain't No Jesus - What they said . . .

Greetings,

Michelle Malkin picks up a terrific insight from Gerald Warner of the London Telegraph.

Yes it is interesting that President B.O. (or B.S. if you prefer) who was heralded as Jesus-like is behaving more like King Herod who committed mass-murder and ended his life as a diseased megalomaniac.

The Obamas' (Barack & Michelle) stance on abortion may cause a health care crisis. Not long ago the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops decided if it is a 'choice' between keeping hospitals open and being forced to perform abortions - they will close U.S. hospitals - 12.5% of all U.S. hospitals. in all 50 states. That is:

615 Hospitals
+
404 Health Care Centers
1,509 Specialized Homes

Barack Obama's Abortion Position Could Result in Closing Catholic Hospitals

Catholic Bishops Discuss Abortion and Obama in First Post-Election Meeting

This is the game of chicken that our newly elected president is already engaged in with religious Americans, forcing us to either do what is against our conscience or get out of the game altogether. Not
exactly along the lines of 'What Would Jesus Do?' is it?

But then, Obama ain't no Jesus.

No Bible At 2nd Swearing In For Obama

Greetings,

I think our new President needs to do it one more time.

The 1st time Barack Obama was sworn in, he and chief justice Roberts fumbled the wording of the oath. The 2nd time they did it, they did it with no Bible:

Barack Obama retakes the oath of office in the map room of the White House

Portents of things to come?

Glenn Beck on Obama's "Spending Freeze" Also Known As The 8 Twinkie Diet

If you haven't seen this - WATCH! This is all you need to know about the Obama "Spending Freeze" in plain English with an easy to understand analogy:

Glenn Beck- January 27, 2010 (Part 1/5)

Speaking as a junk food junkie I can relate - I mean if I stop getting 2 Hardees burgers . . .

Hardee's Bacon-Cheese Thickburger

and maybe have a king-size Kit-Kat bar later?

Because let me see, we got the bank bailouts, the auto-industry bailouts, Dave Obey's $787 Billion 'Stimulus' bill, what else? Anyways, I'm glad that Obama wants to freeze spending - now that he has increased it to all time record highs!

All I got to say is, "Pass me the box of Twinkies Mr. President."

Why Obama Could Not Go To Germany

Greetings,

20 years ago something very momentous happened, on November 9th, 1989, people from both East and West Germany crowded atop the Berlin Wall and brought it down to the ground. At the time I was a young man of 23, I had been married for less than a year to my beautiful wife Kristine and it was for me a year of wonder and euphoria. I had grown up in an America that lived under the constant and imminent fear of global, nuclear destruction. I also had grown up a rather lonely child with as many friends as I could count on my hand and was never known as a ladies man in High School. Now it was 1989 and I was married and the world seemed to be entering a new era of Peace and Freedom.

The air was charged with an optimism never felt before, even in popular culture with the song Peace In Our Time by Eddie Money. For many people my age, this was the legacy of Ronald Reagan and there was much animated discussion at the time by pundits such as George Will about how it happened on "Bush's watch" as did Gary Wills later - but Ronald Reagan deserved much (not all) of the real credit while others wanted the credit to go to George H.W. Bush. 20 years after the fact, Bush told Greta Van Susteren humbly that, "...we had a great team working on it, and they all deserve credit." The New York Times predictably gave the credit to the communists:

East German Change Owes No Thanks To Us

2 years prior on June 12th, 1987, Ronald Reagan delivered his landmark "Mr. Gorbachev . . . tear down this wall" speech:

Watch here:

Text and audio here

President Obama recently declined to visit Germany even for one day because he is too busy with an upcoming trip to Asia (he claims) but do you suppose it might be because it is not enough about him? Or could it be that the fall of the Berlin Wall was too much of a statement of the triumph of Democracy and Freedom over Statism? After all, the collapse of the Berlin Wall is the most concrete (pun intended) empirical data you could ask for to show that a Command Economy will fail when left to compete with a Market Economy. This is why in philosophy and political science we call Communism and Socialism forms of Idealism - they only work in your head, not in real life where the rubber hits the road. After all, an 'Idealist' is a person who upon observing that a rose smells better than a cabbage concludes that it will also make better soup and an 'Ideologue' is a humorless zealot who finds fulfillment by spouting the ideas of famous humorless zealots - like Karl Marx and Nancy Pelosi.

And that leads us back to our beloved President who may be an idealist but is also savvy enough to know he neither would fit in at a celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall (because he doesn't really understand Freedom like someone such as Angela Merkel, the daughter of a Lutheran minister who lived under Communism), nor would he want to invite a comparison of his creeping socialist policies to those of the fallen Soviet Union.

Now for those of you without blood pressure issues, watch what Obama did have to say, all 3 minutes and 4 secinds of it:

Not one mention of Reagan, Bush, Thatcher or John Paul II - but he did inject himself and Hillary Clinton into it! What a colossal egomaniac, reminds me of a country song, I'm glad he did not go.

Jim
